Does your graduate program offer training and coaching in time management and organization at a departmental level?
Project Management for Academics will help your graduate students organize their life and manage their responsibilities in your program.
Background
Effective time management has been associated with stronger academic performance as well as lower levels of stress and anxiety in students. However, many graduate students find it difficult to balance their coursework, research, assistantships, and their interpersonal relationships. The lack of time mastery and productivity skills can translate to early struggles in graduate school. The philosophy of The Academic Society LLC is that mindset, time management, and productivity are essential tools for grad school success.
Learning Outcomes
The grad students will learn and implement a repeatable time management method for breaking down big goals into smaller, more manageable steps. The students will learn how to create realistic timelines and set up accountability measures to achieve their big goals.
Goal
The grad students will learn and implement the Project Management for Academics Framework to manage all components of their lives by getting a bird’s eye view of the major aspects of their lives and slowly zooming in to the day to day tasks to help intentionally make progress toward their goals.
In Project Management for Academics, we help your students break down their goals into projects, workflows, and tasks through our project management framework. Then we show them how to IMPLEMENT it in a paper planner as well as online project management tools, Trello, Asana, and ClickUp.
Project Management for Academics
Project Management for Academics is created and taught by Dr. Toyin Alli from The Academic Society LLC and designed for graduate students to learn to set realistic goals, organize their lives, and manage their time. The program includes 18 prerecorded video lessons with actionable steps for the students to complete for each lesson. The program also includes a planning workbook and access to live planning sessions with other grad students.
How Project Management for Academics Works
The course is self-paced and can be completed whenever your students are ready to complete it. In each module, your students will be given assignments and action steps to help them organize their academic and personal lives. Upon completion of the program, your students will have a system for scheduling tasks as well as a completed planner. I highly recommend that your students work through this program at the start of every semester or every month as needed. I know that, as an academic, your students are super extremely busy, so I’ve cut out the fluff and I’m only giving the most necessary and helpful information and assignments. From start to finish, the program should take between 2-3 hours.
